Telugu Movie Badrinath Review
Geetha Arts most anticipated and high budget movie “Badrinath” starring Allu Arjun under the direction of V.V.Vinayak who is known for his action-oriented dramas and Badrinath has all the elements that his movies promise. Tamannah has played the heroine role in the movie. There are richly choreographed fight sequences, dances, comedy scenes and stunning support from the art direction.
Story:
The film is set in the backdrop of the Badrinath temple, in Uttarakhand. Badri (Allu Arjun) is the protector of the Badrinath temple as foreigners over the years have been looting India’s precious temples. Badrinath is an orphan raised by Bheeshma(Prakash Raj) who is an ancient marial arts teacher. Badri will grow up as a samurai in the training of Bheeshma. He will become the protector of the Badrinath temple. One day Alakananda(Tamannah) comes to visit Badrinath with her grandfather. She doesn’t believe in God as she was a nastik. As usual there are bad guys who are after Alakanada they are the men of Sarkar(Kelly Dorjee). Bheeshma Narayan asks Badri’s parents to gift their son to him, to take care of the shrine in his place, it means that Badri has to promise a life of bachelorhood for life! Knowing this Alakananda asks Badri to help her find her love. Unaware of what his Guru had sought, and unaware that he actually is Alakananda’s love, Badri also promises Alakananda to see that she wins her love. Bheeshma wants to make Badri the next guru by handing over all the responsibilities to him and he have to be a bachelor for this task. The rest of the story is about how Badri manages to over all these problems.
Performances:
Right from the start what catches your attention in Badrinath is the amazing production values. Allu Arjun shines in the setting – getting as athletic as he could for the fight and dance sequences. He gives some exercise to his vocal chords too, while in most cases it is his sword talking. His best performance in this movie is in dances and at some scenes his did well. Tamannah, inspite of having a strange character graph, tries to bring a lot honesty to her role be it with her running, or with her dramatics. Prakash Raj gets the best character, and with a strong make up, has only his eyes and dialogue to support himself. Yet he is good. Music legend Keeravani’s music also failed to impress people it’s his dance which made them look good.
Tamannah has continued his skin show from 100% Love and in few scenes she showed her acting skills well. She has made a good skin show which might add marks to her career but as far as concerned with the movie it did no difference. Kelly Drojee is a waste of time and he will see with a girl who is said to be his wife with always trying to make love to him. Newbie who played his son doesn’t fit the role. The comedy bit that includes Brahmanandam and M.S.Narayana gets the biggest laughter. Aswhini Kalsekar and Kelly Dorjee tried really hard at villainy. Raghu Babu is routine. Rao Ramesh and Tanikella Bharani are not used properly.
Analysis:
In-spite of having a big cast, a decent story line, and an even bigger budget, it is the screenplay and its treatment that are disappointing. The movie mainly falls back with the story. As there is no power in Chinni Krishna’s story. They tried to show some visual effects in the beginning of the movie but as usual it continued with all the same routine characterizations. Hero training part is nothing but a normal process nothing new shown neither in that nor in the meeting scenes of hero and heroine.
Technical Department :
The art work done by Anand Sai is unbelievable, and the cinematographer ensures that he covers them as much as he can. Along with the cinematographer, Peter Heins and Allu Arjun should be commended for creating some astounding stunt sequences. The scenes and the story are all very predictable. Looks like this movie has been just to make sure Allu Arjun had a high budget movie in his career. Vinayak has tried his best to make good movie out of this poor script by Chinni Krishna. The main highlights of the movie are Badrinath Temple and the backdrop, Tamannah skin show and Allu Arjun dance and Fights.
