Sneha alias Suhasini one of the top actress of Southern film industry is a rare blend of beauty and talent. Though her parents hail from Rajamundhry, Andhra Pradesh, Sneha was born in Mumbai and brought up in Dubai. She was spotted by director Fazil in a cultural show in Dubai and recommended her to a Malayalam film director. She debuted with the Malayalam film ‘Engane Our Nila Pakshi’ opposite Kunjako Boban (2000).Through the film flopped, she was noticed by directors of Tamil and Telugu industries.
Sneha was hyped as a strong runner for the top slot after she got noticed in films such as ‘Punnagai Desam’ and ‘Pammal K Sambandam’ (2002). But her films like ‘Paarthale Paravasam’, ‘Yeh Nee Romba Azhaga Irrukey’ and ‘King’ did not do too well at the box-office. The same year she made up, with a hit movie, ‘April Maadhathil’, with Srikanth in the lead and together the two made a cute pair. Her next movie was ‘Vaseegara’ (2003) with Vijay, where she was absolutely comfortable in the role of a woman who is unrelenting in her love for her hero.
Though she has acted in many Telugu films, the success of K Ragavendra Rao-directed mythological movie ‘Sri Ramadasu’ (2006) helped Sneha to firm up her foothold in Telugu cinema. Her role in the movie, steeped in the bhakti culture, was well appreciated by moviegoers. Meanwhile, her Mollywood flick with Mammootty, ‘Thuruppugulan’ (2006), was also a big hit. In ‘Pudhupettai’ (2006), Sneha as a battered and bruised prostitute is a revelation. She is precise and poised in her portrayal.
She soon got an offer from Tamil and was paired opposite Prashanth in Susi Ganesan’s ‘Virumbigiren’ (2001) in which she acted without make-up. This was followed by ‘Ennavale’ (2001) with Madhavan, which bombed at the box-office. But with a charm and grace that one associates with heroines of yesteryears, Sneha played her role with the ease of a veteran. It was the Lingusamy directed ‘Aanandam’ (2001) that gave her the much-awaited hit and soon she was a name to reckon with in Tamil and Telugu films.
In 2004, she got three hits such as ‘Jana’, ‘Vasool Raja MBBS’ and ‘Autograph’. In 2005, she had two films to her credit, ‘Chinna’ and ‘ABCD’. She got rave reviews for her fabulous performance as a widow in ‘ABCD’ and her portrayal of a difficult role in ‘Chinna’.
The svelte, charming actress who has learnt folk dance and Bharathnatyam is very particular about her roles. Lately she has been choose and only accepts roles that test her skill as an actress. With in a short span of time, this natural beauty with her bewitching smile and wide expressive eyes has carved a niche for herself as an actress of caliber. Her decent dress sense and pleasing demeanor places her in a class apart.
