Shreya Saran popularly known as only shreya is an Indian film actress. Shriya Saran was born on 11, Sep, 1982 born as second child to ‘Neeraja’ and ‘Pushpendra Saran’. She was brought up in Ranipur, Haridwar, the holy city. She has an elder brother ‘Abhiroop’, who is married to Arti. She has completed her schooling from Delhi Public School, New Delhi. She has done B.A. (Literature) from Lady Sri Ram College (LSR).

Shreya has a serious interest in classical dancing, and is an accomplished Kathak dancer, under the guidance of her guru Shobha Narayan. She started her career as a model and this led to roles in advertisements and in music albums and started her career as a model and endorsed for large brands like LUX and Head&Shoulders.

Shreya’s first opportunity to appear in front of the camera came whilst she studied her second year at the LSR College in Delhi, which she quit to participate for the shoot.

Shreya’s first screen appearance was in the music video of Tirakthi Kyon Hawa by Reenu Nathan, which she was given a chance to perform in by her dance teacher who had recommended her.

The video shot at Banaras gave her fame, prompting Ramoji Films to offer her the lead role of Neha in their film Ishtam starring and directed by newcomers. Saran despite wanting to only try one film eventually catapulted to fame.

Shreya entered into films with a Telugu film Ishtam in 2001. Although the film has been a success yet, the industry has noticed. It was followed by the 2002 film Santosham Nagarjuna with what has worked very well. The other two films, “in the same year, Nuvve Nuvve and Chennakeshava Reddy also did well. She has the good fortune to work with some great stars and left with a few hits like Tagore (2003) and Chatrapati (2005).

Her Tamil films as Ennaku 20 Unnaku 18 in 2003, Mazhai in 2005 were successful at the box office. In 2007, Azhagiya Tamil Magan, she played in and she was in the opposite Rajnikanth ‘The boss’ has been made one of the greatest films of all time in India

Shreya entered Bollywood with  the movie Tujhe Meri Kasam  (2003), Hum Tum Thode Badlo Thode (2004), Awaarapan (2007) and Mission Istanbul (2008).Shreya is establishing herself as a multilingual actress. After Tamil, Telugu and Hindi movies,She is interested in social services and is part of many NGOs.

Shreya Saran is financially helping poor children’s heart surgeries and education.
