Producer K Devi Vara Prasad Profile

K Devi Vara Prasad, born on December 6, 1936 at Vijayawada, after completing intermediate, he joined engineering in Tumkur, Karnataka. As his father was a distributor, at the young age he entered into films. He is popular as ‘DVP’.

K Devi Vara Prasad used to be the distributor for all films on the National Art Theaters (NAT) banner owned by NTR and Trivikrama Rao. He distributed films like Todu Dongalu, Panduranga Mahatmyam, Jayasimha, etc.

Prasad then entered the Telugu Film Industry on the encouragement given by noted Telugu Film Actor and Former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao.

K Devi Vara Prasad produced films under ‘Devi Films Banner’ and secured several hits by working with N T Rama Rao and Chiranjeevi.

Some of his popular films include ”Bhala Tammudu”, Konda Veeti Raja, ”Alluda Majaka” ”Mruga Raja” ”Bhajantrilu”, ”Amma” and ”Manchi Donga”.

K Devi Vara Prasad earlier worked as a member for National Film Development Corporation and Censor Boards.

His last film “Mrugaraju” with Chiranjeevi is said to be had thrown him out of gear and submerges him in deep financial crisis.

Later, as if it was a final attempt K Devi Vara Prasad made film “Bajantreelu” with which his financial condition further worsens. Since then, he said to be struggling with his health and financial problems until now, but no one from the industry including Chiranjeevi who acquired stardom with his movies ever came to his rescue.

K Devi Vara Prasad was never in hurry to make films and never produced films in bulk, but people nevertheless remember him as a star producer!

K Devi Vara Prasad died due to lung disease has been undergoing treatment at KIMS hospital in Secunderabad, the Tollywood film fraternity has lost ace producer.
