Born in a moderate Marathi-speaking family, on January 22, 1972, Namrata is one of the most beautiful Bollywood actresses, who used to live in Khar, an elite suburb in Bombay. She is the grand-daughter of actress Meenakshi Shirodkar, who starred in Brahmachari movie (1930s), Her sister is actress Shilpa Shirodkar.

Namrata is affectionately called “Chinoo” by her family and close friends. Her mom’s Name is Vanita.

Namrata has also worked as a model, and was 1993′s Miss India. She came close in the top 6 semi-finalists at Miss Universe (1993).

She was one of the models whom designers still miss and while on ramp, nobody could have missed her. Her presence was electrifying on ramp. In her active modeling days, she was in top 5 models of her time.

Namratha was the first actress to wear a swimsuit and gambol in a pool, albeit to depict Lord Krishna bathing in the Holy river Yamuna with his gopikas.

She made her debut with a small role in Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai (1998), along with Salman Khan and Twinkle Khanna. She then went on to star in hit Vaastav. Its performance was evaluated and it has a famous name in music.

She mostly played supporting roles in movies. Films like Pukar, Hera Pheri and Astitva are doing well. Since then her films have done well at the box office.

She was nominated for the IIFA Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in Pukar.

In 2004 she returned to the spotlight when she played the role of Jaya Bakshi in Bride and Prejudice. She older sister Aishwarya Rai in the film. The film was a hit overseas especially in UK, but failed to do well in India. It has been since the industry after her marriage.

Shirodkar began dating Tollywood actor Prince Mahesh Babu in 2000 after filming Vamsee.They were married on February 10, 2005. Shirodkar now lives with her husband. Their first child was a boy named Gowtham Gattamaneni born on August 31, 2006.
