Kamalini Mukherjee is an Indian actress. She has predominantly appeared in Telugu films as well as in a few Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada language films.

Kamalini Mukherjee was born on 4th Mar 1980 and brought up in Kolkata. Her father is a well-established businessman in the city; where as her mother is a garment designer. She has two younger sisters.

Kamalini is a very active girl having too many hobbies. Her hobbies includes painting, cooking, listening music, reading, writing poems, watching films and dancing

Kamalinee Mukherjee is graduted in English literature. She has great interest in writing poems and she also written some poems. She sent three of her best poems to poems.com” each titled as Thoughts, Solitude and Confusion. The website has selected one among the poems for an International Poetry Contest, where along with one of the 150 people all over the world, she was invited to Washington, D.C. for a seminar that was presided over by Dalai Lama.

She has learnt Bharatanatyam and is a very good dancer in that classical form.

After her graduation she attended a workshop on theatre in Mumbai, which helped her a lot in learning acting. After graduation she took up a management course in New Delhi, but left it midway.

Before coming to cinema Mukherjee was doing modelling and she worked for brands like  Fair & Lovely , Parachute , Ayush and Neelkamal Furniture.

After noticing Mukherjee in an advertisement, actor-director Revathi offered her a role in her second directorial venture, Phir Milenge that revolved around the subject of AIDS. Though initially apprehensive about her entering into the acting profession, her parents were very supportive, she had ample role to play in the film.

Sekhar Kammula, a relatively new director from the Telugu film industry was in the process of casting for his next Telugu film, Anand. After coming to know about her, Kammula selected her after a screen test. She said that the role of an independent and modern woman, which was just like her own personality, appealed to her. The film won 6 prestigious 2004 Nandi Awards bestowed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Among these, Mukherjee won the Nandi Award for the Best Leading Actress. Upon receiving the award, she said “it is beyond the belief”. Besides this, she won a couple of awards for being the best debutant actress of the year.

She romanced Sumanth in the Telugu film Godavari (2006). She was seen in the Tamil movie Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, starring Kamal Hassan and Jyotika. In the Telugu film Classmates (2007) she played the role of Razia.

Continuing her stint with Tollywood, she acted in Pellaindi Kaani (2007). In 2008 she was seen in Jalsa, another Telugu film. Kamalinee then showed her acting prowess in the Malayalam film Kutty Srank: The Sailor of Hearts (2009). In the romantic Tollywood flick Gopi Gopika Godavari (2009) she plays Gopika.

She has never worked in her mother tongue Bengali films.
