Geetha born in 13 April 1962 in Bangalore is a South Indian actress of Telangana origin. She debuted in a Tamil film Bhairavi as Rajnikant’s sister. She studied in Bangalore up to grade 7, at Raghavendra High School, Malleswaram, Bangalore. Her father worked for a multinational company and they moved to Chennai, where she completed her high school at T. Nagar Girls’ High School.

In 1997, she married Vasan, a chartered accountant, the couple moved to New York, and she has a young son.

The Malayalam cinema which gave her break, utilized her as a character actress and she is one of the top actresses of Malluwood film Industry due to her meaningful roles. With her mentor Director K. Balachander she put in some superb performances notably in movies like Ninaithalae Innikum, Puthu Puthu Arthangal, Kalki, Azhagan, and her excellent roles in Malayalam; the one in Panchagni, opposite Mohanlal, which was based on the true life story of Naxalite revolutionary Ajita, the role fetched her many accolades.

Some of her other notable Malayalam films include Vatsalyam, Sughamo Devi, Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha, Aadharam, Aavanazhi, and several other films. She has acted in films in all the South Indian languages, and in a few Hindi films; she even worked simultaneously in Telugu and Kannada films like Manavari Pandavarulu and Hennina Sedu. Although her mother tongue is Telugu, she is widely accepted as one of the favorite actresses of all time. Classically beautiful, graceful, immensely talented and can speak any South Indian language – that’s Geetha. She doesn’t require kilos of pancake make-up and her delicate complexion is the envy of those half her age. She continues with her appealing looks in Tamil films like Something Something Unakkum Enakkum, Santhosh Subramaniam, Azhagiya Tamizh Magan, Kuselan etc. She can be relied upon to put in a stirring, yet subtle performance, which will be lauded by women and men of any social class.
