Bhanu Priya was a famous leading actress of the Telugu film industry from 1980 to 1993. She also acted in Bollywood in the 1990′s. She is now living in United States teaching Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi, the two famous South Indian classical dances. She has acted in over 111 films as a heroine. She is known as the ‘other Sridevi’.

She also acting in Telugu films. Recently she worked for Prabhas starring Charapati as a mother role. Nishanthi was the heir of Bhanupriya. But with the same speed as once she (Nishanthi) entered into cinefield she later in her real life entered into married life and has now become mother of a child. Now Bhanupriya’s brother Gopi himself has jumped into cinefield as her second and latest heir!

Bhanupriya made her debut in the Telugu movie Sitara directed by veteran Vamsy, which was a big hit. She has acted as a heroine in over 25 Telugu films, around 30 films in Tamil and also 14 Hindi films and a few Malayalam films. She is known to be an expert in classical dances, in fact all her critically acclaimed movies were based on the subject of classical dance, like Vamsy’s “Sitara” and veteran Kasinadhuni Viswanath’s “Swarnakamalam” in Telugu and Sathyan Anthikkad’s Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal in Malayalam. She is also part of Mani Ratnam’s stage show “Netru, Indru, Naalai”.

She has an older sister, Shantipriya, who is a dancer and actress. When she started acting she changed her name to Bhanu Priya, and became a sensation virtually overnight with the unprecedented success of Sitara, a Telugu movie directed by Vamshi. She fell in love with Adarsh Koushal; the son of U.S. based Sumathi Koushal, and married him. Shortly after her marriage, she too re-located to the U.S. where gave birth to a daughter. Even though she is divorced, she continues to live in the U.S. where she teaches classical dance. Bhanupriya has charming and big eyes that attracts every classical dancer must have.
