Ashwini Nachappa is the one whom our country feels proud of for her great performance in athelets and being an actress.

Aswini Nachappa was born October 21, 1967 her family relocated from Kolkata to Bangalore as a child where she and her sister Pushpa trained under Late M.S. Gill. Very soon she proved herself as an able athlete, she is an accomplished athlete from Karnataka, India. She gained fame at the turn of the 1980′s when she outran P.T. Usha on two separate occasions. She has since been referred to as India’s FloJo [1] and in 1990 she received the prestigious Arjuna award. She has also acted in Tollywood films, as well as being noted as a social worker and educationist.

Called as the Flo Jo or Florence Griffith Joyner of India, Ashwini Nachappa was once the most popular athlete of the country. Like Flo Jo, she was known for her performances in the field along with her glamorous appearance.

Ashwini’s popularity and glamour queen outlook brought her many film proposals and she accepted them to become a well-known film actress in the South Tollywood film industry. She was honored with the Arjuna Award in the year 1990. She was one of the most successful national athletes and qualified for the Seoul Olympics in 1988.Although she has retired as a sportswoman she and her husband runs a sports academy. She has two daughters, both of whom are very much into sports.
